Strong character work, restrained plotting, and an ending to the first arc that actually lands. Loses half a star for a mid-section that drags.
This is the rare one where the protagonist being competent doesn't kill the tension. The obstacles just scale.
The translation quality here is genuinely a cut above. Footnotes where they're needed and nowhere else.
