Anyone else notice the author keeps setting up payoffs four arcs early? Went back and reread and it's all there.
The worldbuilding does that thing where it explains almost nothing and somehow you still follow it perfectly.
Strong character work, restrained plotting, and an ending to the first arc that actually lands. Loses half a star for a mid-section that drags.
Please tell me the translator is planning to pick up the sequel too.
Best thing I've read on this site all year. The premise sounds gimmicky and then the execution is anything but.
Genuinely one of the better paced entries in this genre right now. No filler arcs so far.
